Green Infrastructure Technical Training and Certification: Tucson, January 20-22, 2011
WMG is pleased to announce its new Watershed Technical Training program, which will kick
off in January with an advanced Green Infrastructure training. Join professionals for this three-
day, hands-on workshop in Tucson and learn to bring these practices to your own community.
Certification can be earned, if desired, after completing the course and passing the exam.
Green infrastructure refers to constructed features that use living, natural systems to provide
environmental services, such as capturing, cleaning and infiltrating stormwater; growing
vegetation to shade and beautify streets and buildings; creating wildlife habitat; and calming
traffic.
This training includes design and hands-on implementation of vegetated basins and swales, curb
cuts, and hardscape reduction in streets, right-of-ways, and parking lots. The course curriculum
includes:
• Classroom lectures in assessment, design, policies, funding, and project coordination
• Hands-on site assessments and design sessions
• Two hands-on green infrastructure workshops
• Tour of local green infrastructure sites
• Optional certification exam after completing course
To register, download the full course announcement and application on the Watershed Technical
Trainings website at: www.watershedmg.org/tech-trainings. The course registration fee is
$450, and scholarships are available on a need basis. To earn attempt certification, there is an
additional $75 fee to administer the exam. Applications are accepted first come first serve on a
rolling basis, with a final application deadline of January 3rd, 2011.
