Brad Lancaster, David Omick, and Watershed Management Group: Watershed Technical Training in Eco-Sanitation, December 5-7, 2011 – Tucson AZ
| December 5, 2011 | to | December 7, 2011 |
Learn cutting-edge principles in simple living technology – join Brad Lancaster, David Omick, and WMG for technical training in Eco-Sanitation!
Eco-Sanitation practices treat human ‘waste’ as a resource instead by composting or otherwise reusing that waste instead of discharging it into the surrounding environment or a conventional sewage treatment system. Successful eco-sanitation systems are hygienically safe, socially acceptable, economically feasible, environmentally sound and technologically appropriate. This course will provide an introduction to the concept of eco-sanitation and an overview of various types of composting toilets, human and environmental health considerations, and social acceptability challenges. Students will participate in the design and hands-on construction of a residential composting toilet.
Course curriculum includes:
- Classroom lectures
- Site assessment, design, and planning for a composting toilet
- Hands-on construction of a composting toilet
- Tour of local eco-sanitation sites
This training is open to professionals, educators, and activists from a wide variety of backgrounds and who have the capacity to implement the principles of eco-sanitation presented in the course, either professionally or personally.
